  • Please congratulate Suvankar Ghosh and Jino Mwaka for successfully defending their PhD thesis proposals.
The proposed signature verification method uses a multi-modal signature-based non-intrusive standalone apparatus and technique to build a fingertip position and pressure-based biometric use to assign and validate an individual's identity.
  • Dr. Pratim Datta, an assistant professor in the Department of Management and Information Systems, receives a provisional patent US 61/098.856 for A Finger-Geometry and Finger-Pressure Based Standalone Biometric Apparatus and Method for Multi-Modal Non-Intrusive User Authentication.

 

  • 2008 Operations Management graduate Theresa Papp has had her paper, “On the Robust Properties of the Economic Order Quantity Model”, accepted for publication in the Proceedings of the 2008 International Academy of Business and Economics Conference, Las Vegas, Nevada. Her co-author on the paper is Dr. A. L. Guiffrida from the M&IS Department. Theresa received her BS in Operations Management with a minor in Economics from Kent State in 2008. She is employed as an assignment worker in supply chain management for a health care facility in Northeast Ohio.
  • Teri Scheier has passed the American Production and Inventory Control (APICS) certification examination in Supply Chain Management.  The Supply Chain Management Module is one of five modules required to gain APICS certification. Teri is a senior in the Operations Management program and is employed as an operations analyst for Precision Supply Company, a distributor of Industrial Products located in Brunswick, Ohio. Teri attended the APICS National Convention in Kansas City this September and is active in the National Association for Purchasing Managers (NAPM).
